NIS Graduates 1,626 Officers, Charges Them On Professionalism

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has graduated 1,626 officers from the Fourth Combined and Upgrading Course, 2026, urging them to uphold professionalism in border security and migration management.

The officers graduated after completing the training programme at the Immigration Training School, Kano, and the Digital Bridge Institute, with a Passing Out Parade held to mark the conclusion of the course.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, represented by the Assistant Comptroller-General in charge of Human Resources Management, SU Agba, congratulated the graduating officers and charged them to maintain professionalism in carrying out their statutory responsibilities.

Nandap stressed the importance of technology in tackling contemporary challenges in border security and migration management, while reaffirming the Service’s commitment to continuous training, upgrading and the welfare of its personnel.

The Commandant of the Immigration Training School, Kano, CIS AN Akuneme, said a record number of cadets were mobilised for the programme, making it the largest training exercise in the history of the institution.

Akuneme urged the graduating officers to adapt to the changing demands of border management by facilitating legitimate migration while preventing irregular migration and trans-border threats.

The ceremony also featured merit awards for outstanding course participants, while the commissioning of an ultra-modern market constructed by the course participants was one of the major highlights of the event.

Representatives of various security agencies, as well as senior serving and retired officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service, attended the ceremony.

The Service Public Relations Officer, DCI AS Akinlabi, disclosed this in a statement issued by the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters, Abuja, on Sunday.
