Nigerian man arrested in Canada over alleged sexual assault of woman, underage girl

A 33-year-old Nigerian man, Olusegun Onidare, has been arrested and charged in Canada over alleged sexual assault on two females, including a girl under 18, in Brampton, Ontario.

Peel Regional Police confirmed the arrest and charges in a statement on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, following separate reports of sexual assault on August 31, 2026.

Police said the first incident happened at a mall around Dixie Road and Clark Boulevard, where a woman in her 20s was allegedly approached and sexually assaulted while shopping.

Later that day, a girl under 18 was waiting at a transit terminal around Central Park Drive and Queen Street East when the suspect allegedly approached her, engaged her in conversation and sexually assaulted her.

“On Monday, August 31, two females were allegedly sexually assaulted in separate incidents in Brampton by an unknown male,” Peel Regional Police said.

Police subsequently released information seeking the suspect’s identity.

According to the Force, a member of the public later recognised Onidare from the information provided by the police and contacted investigators, leading to his arrest.

Onidare was charged with two counts of sexual assault and one count of breach of probation order.

“A member of the public recognized the male pictured in the previous news release and contacted police,” the Force said.

Onidare, who police described as having no fixed address, is being held pending a bail hearing.
