Manchester Derby: United, City Fans Express Confidence Ahead of Old Trafford Clash

Manchester United and Manchester City fans have taken to social media with contrasting predictions and messages of confidence ahead of Sunday’s first Manchester derby of the 2026/27 Premier League season at Old Trafford.

United supporters believe the home side can upset a City team that has won all three of its league matches so far, with several fans pointing to United’s counter-attacking threat and home advantage.

RedDevilsHQ wrote: “United are winning this game as the favorable underdogs, city are yet to prove themselves as the dominant force they were under pep”

Fred Agyemang expects United to sit deep and look to exploit spaces behind the City defence.

“United will definetely sit back and hit on the break whiles City will dominate the ball.Both teams will score but if United can play their cards right on the counter-attack they will cause City problems but City have Haaland and United has a really bad defence”

Faisal Waseem predicted a 2-1 United victory, saying: “I think we win 2-1. Rashy will humble Cherki and Sesko will show Haaland who’s boss.”

Thato Mehlomakhulu added: “Rashford will take us to the promised land”

Ola also backed United, writing: “Derby Day energy is different. Come on United, let’s get the job done 🔴
I’m all in for United today”

Adesports said: “This Derby will be worth it. I believe”

Joe took a more humorous approach, writing: “Get ready to cry…..Carrick ball is here and it’s beautiful”

City supporters, however, were equally confident that Maresca’s side would maintain their perfect league start.

Antonia Gomes wrote: “Derby day! I’m counting on you to make MANCHESTER BLUE! Win, win, win is all we want. C’mon CITY🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵good vibes from Portugal!!”

Owen called on City supporters to remain positive ahead of the clash.

“Boys these people have really underrated Us, I need want us to put on a live show today guys. We know we can do it, I just want y’all to be 100% positive cus we thrashing them. C’mon City”

Achebe Waweru also backed the visitors, writing: “We go beat them. This is the Enzo Maresca era”

The derby presents contrasting early-season stories. United have four points from three league matches and have conceded twice in each of those games, while City have collected maximum points from their opening three fixtures.

Michael Carrick’s side will hope Benjamin Sesko can continue his recent scoring form after netting in United’s 4-0 Champions League victory over Sabah, while City will look to Erling Haaland, who has scored eight Premier League goals against United.

With both sets of supporters convinced their side can claim bragging rights, the Old Trafford derby promises to deliver another chapter in one of English football’s fiercest rivalries.
