Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has inaugurated four government boards and committees, charging members to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, humility, accountability and commitment to public service.

The inaugurated bodies are the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Consumer Protection Committee and the Edo State Rural Access Roads Agency (RARA).

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony at the Government House in Benin City, Governor Okpebholo congratulated the appointees and said their appointments placed an important responsibility on them to serve the people of Edo State.

He reminded the appointees that their positions represented not only a responsibility to the people but also a responsibility before God.

“I wish to remind you that this is not merely a responsibility to the people; it is also a responsibility before God,” the governor said.

 Okpebholo Charges Appointees on Integrity

Governor Okpebholo urged the appointees to perform their duties with integrity, dedication and humility, stressing that the interests of Edo residents must remain above personal considerations.

He also called on members to work together in unity and ensure that their decisions and actions produced meaningful results and lasting positive impacts across the state.

“I therefore urge you to work together in unity, placing the interests of the people above personal considerations. May your decisions and actions produce meaningful results and create a lasting positive impact,” he said.

The governor prayed for wisdom, strength and grace for the appointees to successfully fulfil the mandates entrusted to them.

Pilgrims Boards Pledge Commitment to Service

Responding on behalf of the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, its Chairman, Very Rev. Fr. Alfred Aronegbe Agbonlahor, thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in the members.

Agbonlahor assured the governor that the board would work diligently to promote the interests and welfare of Christian pilgrims in Edo State.

The Chairman of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mallam Musa Muhammad Uduimoh, also thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve and commended his administration’s commitment to the welfare of pilgrims.

Uduimoh pledged that the board would support the government in providing efficient, transparent and satisfactory services to intending pilgrims.

Consumer Protection Committee Promises Accountability

Similarly, the Chairman of the Consumer Protection Committee, Iyamu Osaro Destiny, commended Governor Okpebholo for constituting the committee.

He pledged the members’ commitment to protecting consumers and promoting fairness, accountability and responsible commercial practices across Edo State.

RARA Gets New Director-General

Momodu Oghenakhoghie Goodluck was inaugurated as Director-General of the Edo State Rural Access Roads Agency.

The inauguration formally marked the assumption of responsibilities by members of the various boards and agencies, including the 28-member Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board and the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa; Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Yakubu Musa; other government officials and dignitaries.
