Nigerian actor Hafiz Oyetoro, popularly known as Saka, has revealed how veteran actor Jide Kosoko initially doubted his ability to play a lawyer in a film before his performance changed the veteran actor’s perception of him.

Saka who spoke to Yorubahood said the incident happened while actor Dele Odule was producing a film directed by Kosoko.

According to him, Odule had selected him for the lawyer role, but Kosoko initially objected after seeing him sitting quietly on set.

“Mr Dele Odule wanted to make a film and he cast me in a role. Uncle Jide Kosoko was the director,” Saka recalled.

He said the issue came up while they were seated together during the filming of another scene.

“Uncle Jide asked Dele Odule if he had found someone to play the lawyer role. Dele Odule said he had found someone who will play it well. Uncle Jide asked again and Dele Odule pointed at me.

“Uncle Jide saw me sitting there quietly and helpless. They argued for a while. Uncle Jide said no, but Dele insisted.

Reluctantly, Uncle Jide agreed to let me do it.”
Saka said he went on to deliver the role when he got on set, earning Kosoko’s attention after filming ended.

“When I got on set, I delivered. After we wrapped at night, Uncle Jide called for me. I went to his room and he asked if I was angry,” he said.

“He explained he didn’t know my capability because of how quietly I had been sitting.”

Saka said the encounter ultimately deepened his respect and affection for the veteran actor.

“Since that day, my love for Uncle Jide increased,” he added.
