I protected Buhari govt, wasn’t part of any cabal – Ex-DSS DG, Daura

The Director General of the Department of State Services, DSS, and vice presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, Lawal Daura, has disclosed that he stood by and protected the late former President Muhammadu Buhari and his administration while in office.
Lawal lamented that Buhari was surrounded by sycophants who deceived him and betrayed his trust, insisting that he remained loyal to the former president.
Featuring on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday night, the former DSS DG also revealed that he was never part of a cabal during Buhari’s administration.
He said: “Students of history should go back from 1995 to 2023 when he exited and find out which were the worst years. I wasn’t part of the government then, and that’s to show you that I stood by him and protected that government.
“Everything started to give way after 2018 when I left office. There was no cabal, and even if there was a cabal, the schedule that I handled, the intelligence chief of a country, can never be part of a cabal.
“The schedule that I handled made it necessary for me to be close to the president at all times, and if that closeness is interpreted to mean being part of a cabal, that is a different thing.
“The sycophants around Buhari deceived him and betrayed the trust he gave them and took advantage of that government.”
