Gov Idris dissolves KEBSIEC governing board

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has approved the dissolution of the governing board of the Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission, KEBSIEC.
The dissolution will take effect from September 18, 2026, following the expiration of the board’s tenure.
This was contained in a letter issued by the Director, Executive Council, Kabiru Hassan Wasagu, and signed by the Secretary to the Kebbi State Government, Yakubu Bala Tafida.
The letter, made available to journalists on Tuesday, stated that the governor approved the dissolution following the expiration of the board’s tenure.
“I am directed to inform you that Governor Nasir Idris has approved the dissolution of the Governing Board of the Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission following the expiration of its tenure, with effect from September 18, 2026,” the letter stated.
The government clarified that two other members of the commission whose tenures have not expired will remain in office.
It said the two members would continue to serve until the commission is reconstituted.
Governor Idris thanked the outgoing members for their service to the state.
He also assured them of the administration’s commitment to protecting the independence and integrity of the electoral commission.
