Durosinmi sets 20-goal Genk target

Super Eagles striker, Rafiu Durosinmi, has set himself a target of at least 20 goals this season after a stunning start to life at Belgian Pro League side, Genk.
The 23-year-old also wants to challenge for the league’s Golden Boot, and he made his ambitions clear in an interview with Het Laatste Nieuws.
“At least 20 goals this season would be fantastic,” he said.
Durosinmi has scored five goals in his first six league appearances since joining Genk from Pisa for €10.5m in the summer, a club-record fee. His latest came in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Gent, and three of his goals have been headers, with the other two coming from the penalty spot.
The return is a sharp contrast to his spell at Pisa, where he scored once in 12 Serie A appearances in the second half of the 2025/26 season.
After the Gent game, he said belief had been central to his fast start.
“I am happy to have been voted Man of The Match again. It also feels good to be the top scorer at the moment. In football, anything is possible, but you have to believe in it,” he said.
He added that the top scorer title had long been a dream. “I want to score, I want to finish high in the standings, and I also want to go for the top scorer title. I have always dreamed of that,” he said.
Fellow Super Eagles striker, Paul Onuachu, a former Genk player, played a part in the move.
“He wondered why I had chosen Pisa in January and was curious about the options I had now. When I mentioned Genk, he immediately said that it was the best step for me,” Durosinmi said.
“That really gave me the final push to choose this club. And to be honest: the club really is fantastic. I had expected that because of all the good stories, but it has exceeded my expectations.”
He also praised head coach Jess Thorup and said it was the first club where he had settled within a week.
Onuachu and Tolu Arokodare both won the Belgian Pro League Golden Boot at Genk before moving to the Premier League, giving Durosinmi a Nigerian path to follow.
