Michael Achimugu, the NCAA spokesperson, announced this in a post on his personal X handle on Friday.

The compensation is in line with Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023, which provides for consumer protection in air travel, compensation and other remedies for passengers affected by baggage-related issues.

According to him, the fine was for failing to resolve the baggage complaint within the stipulated timeframe.

In addition to the fine, the NCAA has directed RwandAir to replace the passenger’s damaged bag and pay $170 as first-need compensation.

The NCAA said the sanction underscores the importance of airlines addressing passenger complaints promptly and complying with consumer protection regulations.
