Fire Service equips prison officers to tackle fire outbreaks

The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Zamfara Command, has conducted a fire prevention and control sensitisation exercise, including practical demonstrations, at the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Gusau.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the exercise was aimed at raising fire safety awareness and improving emergency preparedness in custodial facilities.
The delegation was led by the Superintendent of Fire, Hamza Abdulkadir, who educated officers and personnel on fire prevention measures, the proper handling of firefighting equipment and appropriate responses to fire outbreaks.
Participants also received practical training on fire extinguishing techniques and the effective use of firefighting equipment.
The Officer-in-Charge of the centre, CSC Mustapha Barau, joined other officers and personnel in the demonstrations.
Barau commended the Federal Fire Service for the initiative, describing it as important for protecting lives and property and securing the custodial facility.
He urged participants to apply the knowledge and skills acquired, stressing the need for constant vigilance, compliance with fire safety procedures and adequate preparedness to prevent fire incidents.
He said the exercise demonstrated the command’s commitment to inter-agency collaboration, workplace safety and the provision of a secure environment for staff and inmates.
