A Boko Haram terrorist has surrendered to troops of the Joint Task Force, North East, Operation HADIN KAI, in Pulka, Gwoza local government council of Borno state.
The development, according to the theatre command, followed sustained military operations aimed at weakening terrorist networks and restricting their freedom of movement across the North East.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, the acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Captain Mohammed Goni, said the terrorist surrendered voluntarily at about 9:20 a.m. in Pulka.

Preliminary information indicated that the surrendered terrorist had previously operated within the Mandara Mountains axis, an area associated with terrorist activities along the Nigeria-Cameroon border.
According to the statement, troops recovered one Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) launcher, one RPG bomb and a mobile phone from the terrorist at the point of surrender.
The suspect is currently undergoing preliminary investigation and profiling in line with established military procedures.
The theatre command said the surrender further demonstrates the impact of sustained military pressure on terrorist elements and their diminishing freedom of action within the theatre.
It added that the development also highlighted the military’s continued efforts to degrade terrorist capabilities while encouraging those still bearing arms to abandon terrorism and embrace peace.
The theatre command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on terrorist groups, denying them freedom of action and creating the conditions necessary for lasting peace and stability across the North East.
