Adamawa Approves N381.6m Counter-Terrorism Base In Gulak

The Adamawa State Government is stepping up its security response in communities recovering from insurgency, approving N381.6 million for the development of a Counter-Terrorism Base in Gulak, Madagali Local Government Area.

The approval, made at the 13th meeting of the Adamawa State Executive Council for 2026, covers the engagement of a consulting firm for pre- and post-construction services for the proposed base.

The government said the project is aimed at consolidating the return of peace to communities previously affected by insurgency and strengthening preventive security measures in the area.

With normal life gradually returning to Madagali, the government said it would not take the improved security situation for granted.

The proposed base is expected to enhance security coordination and provide additional capacity for security agencies to respond swiftly to emerging threats.

The council also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements and activities to security agencies.

The Executive Council also considered the flood risk facing Adamawa following predictions by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

The state is among those identified as vulnerable to flooding, particularly communities located along river channels.

Residents in vulnerable communities were advised to relocate to higher ground as a precautionary measure.

In the agricultural sector, the council approved the procurement of 36,300 bags of fertiliser for dry-season farming, as well as herbicides and pesticides valued at N759.28 million.

The interventions are expected to support farmers, boost agricultural productivity and strengthen food production during the dry season.

The council also approved N1.752 billion for the construction of office blocks at the Adamawa State Post-Primary Schools Management Board in four lots.

Another N627.695 million was approved for the construction of a road network at the Technical Science School in Hong.

The approvals form part of the state government’s broader investment in security, agriculture, education and public infrastructure.
