The political battle over President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 campaign structure is escalating, with state coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors warning FCT Minister Nyesom Wike against weakening the APC’s political machinery.
The group says cross-party support for the President is welcome but must not undermine APC governors, candidates or grassroots structures.
The Renewed Hope Ambassadors are drawing a firm line in the growing power struggle over control of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
In a statement signed by coordinators representing the six geopolitical zones, the group cautioned FCT Minister Nyesom Wike against using his Rainbow Coalition to create a rival political structure within the President’s campaign.
The coordinators insist that while Wike has the right to mobilise support across party lines, that support must not weaken APC governors, candidates or the party’s grassroots machinery.
They backed the Progressive Governors Forum’s position that its commitment extends beyond President Tinubu to every APC candidate contesting in 2027.
The group warned that parallel campaign structures could create competing centres of political authority, confuse supporters and trigger an internal battle over control of the President’s mobilisation machinery.
It also questioned the electoral value of cross-party alliances, arguing that some coalition leaders failed to deliver their polling units, wards or local governments during the 2023 presidential election.
The coordinators say the APC already has a nationwide mobilisation structure covering all 774 local government areas, 8,809 wards and more than 176,000 polling units.
Their message to Wike is direct: support President Tinubu—but respect the APC, its governors, its candidates and its campaign architecture.
The statement signals an escalating confrontation between APC governors and Wike’s coalition, with the control of President Tinubu’s 2027 political machinery now emerging as the central battleground.
