Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued a kidnapped victim in Kaduna State and foiled a terrorist attack in Sokoto State.
The Theatre Command disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday by its Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja.
The operation in Kaduna occurred on August 20, 2026, after troops of Sector 1 responded to a distress call over the abduction of a 43-year-old man around Awon community in Kachia Local Government Area.
According to the statement, the troops swiftly moved into the area and pursued the terrorists into the surrounding bushes.
The military said the pressure forced the terrorists to abandon their captive and flee, after which the victim was rescued and reunited with his family.

In Sokoto State, troops of Sector 2, working with local security personnel, responded to a terrorist attack on Kwaren Gamba village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area on August 21.
The troops engaged the attackers and forced them to withdraw from the community in disarray.
During a subsequent pursuit of the fleeing terrorists, one of the attackers was neutralised, while troops recovered two mobile phones, cash, an ATM card, recharge cards and other items.
The Joint Task Force said it would sustain its operations across the North-West to prevent terrorists from gaining freedom of action and improve security in communities within its area of responsibility.
The Theatre Command said troops would continue to respond “decisively to emerging threats” while urging residents to remain vigilant.
It also called on members of the public to provide “timely, credible information” to security forces to support efforts to restore lasting peace and security across the region.
