Tinubu Appoints Betta Edu Director of Women Mobilisation for 2027 Election Campaign

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu, as Director of Women Mobilisation for his 2027 presidential campaign council.

Edu’s appointment was contained in the full list of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council released on Saturday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

The campaign council will be chaired by President Tinubu, while Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, will serve as vice chairmen.

Former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, was named Director-General, while Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, will serve as Secretary.

Senator Ajibola Bashiru and Hadiza Bala-Usman were appointed Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretary respectively.

The council will also have an advisory body comprising Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Segun Osoba, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were appointed Deputy Directors-General for the campaign in the southern and northern regions.

They will work with Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and Senator Jibril Barau in the two zones.

Senator Adams Oshiomhole was named Deputy Director-General in charge of mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, will oversee administration as Deputy Director-General.

James Abiodun Faleke, who played a prominent role in Tinubu’s 2022/2023 presidential campaign, has also returned as Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.

Faleke will work with zonal directors responsible for election planning and coordination across the six geopolitical zones.

The campaign council also named Stella Okotete, Engineer Abdullahi Garba Ramat and Audu Maikori as secretaries of the election planning directorate.

Legal, media teams unveiled

Muiz Adeyemi Banire will head the legal directorate as Director, with Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala as deputies.

Other members of the legal team include Prince Lateef Fagbemi, former Zamfara State Governor Ibrahim Shema, Worgu Boms and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, will serve as Coordinating Director for Media and Strategic Communication.

He will work alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.

Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka were appointed Coordinating Deputy Directors, while Abdulaziz AbdulAziz, Temitope Ajayi, Arabinrin Aderonke and Frederick Nwabufor will serve as Coordinating Secretaries.

Segun Dada will return as Director of New Media, the same position he held during the 2022/2023 campaign, while Solomon Arowolo was named Secretary of New Media.

Dele Alake will lead the campaign’s five-member spokesperson team, alongside Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.

Tinubu tasks council with securing victory

President Tinubu charged members of the campaign council to work tirelessly towards securing victory for the APC in the January 2027 presidential election.

He also directed heads of the various campaign directorates to reach out to other party members who were not formally listed but could contribute to the campaign.

Defending his administration’s record, Tinubu said his government had delivered on its campaign promises and placed the country on a path of economic progress.

“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress,” Tinubu said.

The President urged the campaign team to highlight the administration’s achievements and inspire confidence among Nigerians ahead of the election.
