The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria says there was no fire at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, contrary to earlier reports.
This was contained in an update delivered to aviation correspondents by the agency on Sunday Morning.
According to the Authority, preliminary findings indicate that the smoke seen inside the terminal was caused by the discharge of the terminal’s FM-200 fire suppression system, and not by a fire outbreak.
FAAN says the reason for the activation of the fire suppression system is currently under investigation.
The Authority adds that normal operations have resumed at the terminal, while investigations continue to determine the exact cause of the incident.
The update is however contrary to an earlier report posted by the agency on its X formerly Twitter handle on Sunday Morning where it specifically mentioned fire incident to describe what happened.
