Squash Premier League Season 2 Set To Begin August 5 In Abuja

The second edition of the Squash Premier League is set to serve off in Abuja this August in Moshood Abiola National Stadium Package B, with organisers promising an exciting platform to nurture emerging talents and strengthen the development of squash across Nigeria.

Organised by the Beacon of Positivity Foundation (BOPF), the 2026 Season 2 competition will bring together club members, senior players, Under-15 and Under-19 athletes, as well as doubles teams in what is expected to be one of the country’s biggest domestic squash events.

The tournament will take place at the Package B Squash Courts, Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, with league matches scheduled to run from August 5 to August 9, 2026.

As part of efforts to improve the quality of the game, organisers have also included a Coaching and Officiating Clinic, which will hold from August 3 to August 4, between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. daily. 

The clinic is designed to equip coaches and referees with updated technical knowledge and best practices in line with international standards.

Registration for the league opened on June 15 and closed on July 25, while the withdrawal deadline was fixed for July 28. Match fixtures were released on August 2, giving participating clubs and players time to prepare for the competition.

The Squash Premier League has continued to position itself as a pathway for discovering and developing young talents while providing established players with a competitive environment to sharpen their skills.

Organisers said the league aligns with their vision of breeding the next generation of squash champions by creating regular competitive opportunities for athletes at different levels.

The event has attracted support from several partners, including DFSP Africa, SwiftSell, and Flutter, with the organisers also calling on corporate organisations and individuals to support the growth of squash through sponsorships, partnerships, and donations.

With a blend of youth development, elite competition and capacity-building programmes, the 2026 Squash Premier League is expected to contribute significantly to the continued growth of squash in Nigeria while inspiring more young people to embrace the sport.
