Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged Nigerians to renew their commitment to peace, compassion and service to humanity as Muslims across the country and around the world commemorate Eid-el-Maulud.
Shettima, in a message marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), extended greetings to the Muslim Ummah and all Nigerians on the occasion.
He said the life and teachings of the Prophet remained enduring examples of mercy, humility, justice, patience and service to humanity.
According to him, the Prophet demonstrated that true strength lies in compassion, while leadership must be guided by fairness and faith expressed through the way people treat one another.
The Vice President said the values were particularly important as Nigeria continued to experience sustained economic growth under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He urged Nigerians to strengthen the bonds that unite them, care for vulnerable citizens and reject hatred, division and intolerance.
“Our diversity remains one of Nigeria’s greatest strengths,” Shettima said, stressing the need to build a country where people of every faith and background can live together in peace, dignity and mutual respect.
He also called on Nigerians to remember those in need and extend kindness to their neighbours and communities, saying the true spirit of Eid-el-Maulud went beyond remembrance to reflecting the Prophet’s example in daily life.
Shettima prayed for lasting peace and prosperity in Nigeria and called on Almighty Allah to guide Nigerians on the path of righteousness.
“May Almighty Allah accept our prayers, grant our nation lasting peace and prosperity, and guide us all on the path of righteousness,” he said.
He wished Nigerians a peaceful and blessed Eid-el-Maulud celebration.
