Seun Kuti reacts to reports that he angrily left Peller’s wedding over MC jokes about Fela
Seun Kuti, the last son of Afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti, has finally reacted to viral reports that he left Peller’s wedding in anger.
According to the viral reports on social media, Seun angrily left the event after one of the MCs cracked jokes about the controversial ‘Wizkid is bigger than Fela’ debate.
A viral video captured Seun leaving as he was heard saying, “We are in the wrong place.”
The development sparked controversy online with one of the MCs coming out to accuse Seun of having anger problems.
Finally reacting to the reports, Seun Kuti who was confronted by Fuji singer, Malaika at Fela’s Shrine in Lagos, denied leaving the ceremony in anger.
Seun explained that he was at the wedding till evening time, and left for an event at his father’s Shrine around 8:30 pm.
When confronted by Malaika, Seun said; “I left the Peller’s wedding about 8:30 pm. I came to the Shrine. There’s an event at the Shrine and I have to be there. But bloggers were saying I left angrily. Was I supposed to be dancing when I was hurriedly leaving the place for another event?”
DAILY POST reports that the ‘I’m bigger than Fela’ statement was made by Wizkid during his online fight with Seun over Fela’s legacy in January 2026.
Wizkid’s bold declaration sparked mixed reactions among Nigerians including celebrities and politicians.
