Senator Joel-Onowakpo’s Mother-in-Law Dies At 80

Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, representing Delta South Senatorial District, has announced the death of his mother-in-law, Madam Orere Victoria Idodo, at the age of 80.

Madam Idodo died on Monday at about 3:15 p.m. after a period of illness during which she was receiving medical treatment.

The senator, in a statement on his official Facebook handle announcing her death, said the deceased bore her illness with “remarkable grace and faith” before her death.

He described his late mother-in-law as “a rare gem” whose life was characterised by faith, love, sacrifice, kindness and service to God and humanity.

According to him, Idodo was not only a mother to the family, but also a woman whose values and principles shaped those around her.

“Her life was a true definition of sacrifice, kindness and dedicated service to God and humanity,” he said.

The senator also described the deceased as warm, witty and fun-loving, while noting that she was firm and principled and maintained strong values of hard work, respect and integrity.

He said her death had left a significant void in the family, but expressed confidence that her legacies would continue to live on.

Sen. Joel-Onowakpo appealed to family members, friends and well-wishers to pray for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul and for strength for the family to cope with the loss.

He said details of the funeral arrangements would be announced later.
