Rivers To Commission 10 Major Projects Across State

The Rivers State Government is set to begin the commissioning of 10 major projects across the state as part of Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s efforts to expand infrastructure and drive development across local communities.
The commissioning exercise will run from August 17 to August 28 and will feature projects covering roads, bridges, healthcare, education and other public infrastructure across several local government areas.
According to a report by Vanguard, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Dagogo Wokoma, announced the programme during a media briefing with journalists in Port Harcourt on Friday.
Wokoma said the projects demonstrate the administration’s focus on delivering infrastructure that addresses the needs of residents and improves communities across the state.

The programme will begin on August 17 with the commissioning of the Buguma-Degema-Abonnema Road, which connects communities across Asari-Toru, Degema and Akuku-Toru Local Government Areas.
On August 18, the governor will commission the Egwi-Afara-Mba Road in Etche Local Government Area, followed by the Entrepreneurship Centre and Engineering Faculty Building of the Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic on August 19.
The Elele-Egbeda-Omoku Dual Carriageway, spanning Ikwerre, Emohua and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government areas, is scheduled for commissioning on August 20.
The Omoku Zonal Hospital in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area will follow on August 21.
The exercise will resume on August 24 with the commissioning of the Omademe Internal Roads in Ikwerre Local Government Area.
On August 25, the governor will commission the new runway at the Air Force Base in Rumuola, Port Harcourt Local Government Area.
The Agba Ndele Road and Bridge in Emohua Local Government Area will be commissioned on August 26.
Two major health facilities, the Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital and the New General Hospital, Rumuigbo, both in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, are scheduled for commissioning on August 27.
The programme will conclude on August 28 with the commissioning of the Bonny National Grammar School in Bonny Local Government Area.
Wokoma said the projects reflect the administration’s commitment to ensuring that government programmes translate into concrete improvements in the lives of residents.
“These projects scheduled for commissioning are tangible evidence of His Excellency’s unwavering dedication to transform our communities and address the developmental needs of our people,” he said.
He added that the projects demonstrate the administration’s determination to ensure that governance delivers “meaningful and measurable benefits for every citizen across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.”
The SSG also acknowledged the roles played by government officials, contractors, host communities and other stakeholders in delivering the projects.
He urged residents across the state to participate in the commissioning activities and continue supporting the administration’s development efforts.
“We invite all Rivers people to join in celebrating these milestones and to continue supporting the administration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara as it advances peace, development, progress, and prosperity,” Wokoma said.
