The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has arrived in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, for the 2026 Nigerian Police Force Northwest Security Summit.
The IGP arrived at the Zamfara State Government House in the company of senior police officers and security experts ahead of the summit.

The summit, organised by the Nigeria Police Force, is aimed at developing lasting solutions to the persistent security challenges confronting the North-West region.
The seven states in the zone — Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi and Jigawa — have continued to battle various security threats, including banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes.
The meeting comes amid renewed attacks on communities in parts of the region, with bandits targeting residents, travellers and security personnel.
Several people have been killed in the attacks, while others remain in captivity following abductions for ransom.
Governors of the seven North-West states, or their representatives, are expected to participate in the summit alongside senior security officials and other stakeholders.
The summit is themed, “Appraising the Security Challenges in the North-West.”
The meeting is expected to focus on strengthening security coordination among the affected states, improving intelligence sharing and developing more effective strategies to tackle banditry and kidnapping across the region.
