The Nigeria Police Force has reported a series of operational successes across several states, including the arrest of murder, attempted murder and defilement suspects, the rescue of nine kidnap victims and the recovery of vehicles and an operational motorcycle.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in a state-by-state executive summary of police operations conducted on August 10 and 11, 2026.
In Oyo State, police arrested a suspect following a violent altercation at Oke Ola area of Eruwa on August 10, during which a man was fatally stabbed.
In a separate incident at Igbeti, two suspects were arrested after an alleged assault arising from a disagreement with the victim. Both cases are being investigated by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Ibadan.
In Lagos State, police arrested a suspect following an alleged attempted attack on a woman at a hotel in Idimu. The suspect was apprehended while an accomplice reportedly fled the scene. Police said efforts were ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect.
In another Lagos operation, officers responded to a distress call involving a woman inside a Toyota Sienna Space Bus. The suspect was arrested, the vehicle impounded and the woman rescued and taken to hospital for treatment.
In Katsina State, police repelled an attack by heavily armed bandits who invaded Metsani Village in Dutsinma. The operatives engaged the attackers in a gun battle, forcing them to retreat into the bush with suspected gunshot injuries.
One Boxer motorcycle allegedly abandoned by the fleeing bandits was recovered and registered as an exhibit.
In Kwara State, four suspects were arrested following the abduction of a resident at Ilesha Baruba. Police and other security personnel launched a search operation after the incident, while efforts continued to rescue the victim and apprehend other members of the suspected gang.
In Ekiti State, police arrested a suspect following a report involving the alleged defilement of a 14-year-old girl at Iyin-Ekiti.
The victim was taken to hospital for medical examination and treatment, while the SCID in Ado-Ekiti commenced investigation.
One of the major breakthroughs was recorded in Kogi State, where police-led security operatives rescued nine kidnap victims abducted along the Mameramo-Adomu Road.
Following an intelligence-driven operation and intensive bush combing, the victims were rescued and subsequently reunited with their families. Two vehicles belonging to the victims were also recovered.
Meanwhile, in Delta State, three people abducted during an attack on a land-clearing operation at Ozoro were released by their abductors.
The victims, who reportedly sustained injuries during the incident, received medical attention after their release.
The Force said investigations into the various incidents are ongoing through the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments.
The police reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and urged members of the public to continue providing useful information to security agencies.
