The suspect, identified as Mustapha Abubakar, was arrested on August 25, 2026, during a police operation in the Kara area of Bunza town.
The operation followed concerns over the theft and vandalism of electricity infrastructure in the area, which has affected electricity supply to some communities.

The suspect was subsequently arraigned before a court, according to the state Police Command.
