The Nigeria Police Force has arrested 67 suspects and recovered firearms, ammunition and suspected illicit drugs in separate operations across Ogun, Ekiti, Kano and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in the State-by-State Executive Summary of the police operational successes for August 13, 2026.

In Ogun State, police operatives responded to a report involving the defilement of a 17-year-old girl in Warewa, leading to the arrest of a suspect. The victim was rescued and taken to hospital for medical treatment.

In Ekiti State, two suspects were arrested during a stop-and-search operation along University Road, Iyin-Ekiti, after police intercepted an unregistered motorcycle carrying the pair.

“A live cartridge and suspected illicit drugs were recovered during the search,” the police said.

A subsequent search of the suspects’ residences led to the recovery of a single-barrel gun, according to the Force.

In Kano State, 11 suspected drug peddlers were arrested in Sabon Gari following intelligence and surveillance operations.

Police said the suspects were found with “60 capsules of Pregabalin, five tablets of Diazepam, ten tablets of Extol and a large quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.”

In the FCT, coordinated raids on black spots, criminal hotspots and uncompleted buildings across the territory resulted in the arrest of 52 suspects.

“Quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, illicit drugs and knives were recovered from the suspects,” the police said.

The Force said the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments and Divisional Commands are investigating the cases.
