Oyo police command sends Kwara officers back

The Oyo State Police Command has advised policemen from Kwara State who were in Ibadan to arrest a suspect to go back to their base.
The command advised the complainant to approach the appropriate court in Ibadan, being the alleged place where the offence was committed.
The command noted that due process must be followed before a suspect could be arrested.
Commissioner of Police Abimbola Olugbenga made these declarations via a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the command, Olayinka Ayanlade.
The statement was made available to DAILY POST on Tuesday evening.
DAILY POST gathered that some policemen from Kwara State made an attempt to arrest a suspect identified as Mr. Tani Olohun in Ibadan on Tuesday.
It was learnt that the attempt to arrest the suspect by the policemen was resisted.
Olugbenga, in the statement made available to DAILY POST through Ayanlade, noted that the policemen from Kwara State had been advised to go back to their base.
He also advised the complainant to approach the appropriate court in Ibadan.
He added that Ibadan is the place where the offence was allegedly committed.
“The attention of the Oyo State Police Command has been drawn to a video circulating on social media concerning some officers of the Kwara State Police Command who were in Ibadan on official duty to effect the arrest of one Mr Tani Olohun.
“Upon receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, directed the officers to return to their base and advise the complainant to approach the appropriate court in Ibadan, being the alleged place where the offence was committed, in accordance with due process and the principles of territorial jurisdiction.”
