The Nigeria Police Force has appointed Ibrahim Zungura as the new Commissioner of Police in Osun State.
According to the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Zungura takes over the leadership of the Osun State Police Command following his transfer from the Police Academy in Kano.
The new commissioner was received at the police headquarters in Osogbo by the Commissioner of Police in charge of the 2026 Osun governorship election, Samuel Etaifo.

Before his new posting, Zungura served as the Commissioner of Police, Training and Courses, at the Police Academy in Kano.
The development comes less than two weeks after the Osun governorship election and months after Mr Gotan faced sustained criticism from political actors and civil society groups over allegations of bias in the handling of politically sensitive matters ahead of the August 15 poll.
