Yiaga Africa says accreditation and voting had commenced in 97 per cent of polling units across its sampled locations by 9:30am during the Osun State governorship election.

The civil society organisation said its observers were monitoring the process across 300 sampled polling units as part of its Watching the Vote initiative.

In an update, Yiaga Africa said 278 of the 300 sampled polling units had submitted reports by 11:30am.

The organisation said its observers were deployed across all 300 polling units to monitor the conduct of the election and provide real-time updates.

The monitoring is being conducted under Yiaga Africa’s Parallel Vote Tabulation (PVT) methodology, which the organisation said is designed to provide data-driven and independent observation of the electoral process.

“Watching the Vote” is part of Yiaga Africa’s efforts to independently assess the conduct of elections and provide citizens with timely information on the voting process.

The latest update comes as voting continues across Osun State, with voters in the state’s 30 local government areas exercising their franchise to elect the governor for the next four years.

Yiaga Africa said its observers would continue monitoring the process through voting, counting and the collation of results.
