Osun Decides: Senator Lere Oyewunmi Calls For Peaceful, Credible Poll

Senator Lere Oyewunmi has urged political stakeholders and voters in Osun State to ensure that Saturday’s governorship election is conducted peacefully and transparently.

Oyewunmi, speaking on the ongoing election, said the people of Osun have a common interest in the outcome of the poll and should avoid actions capable of undermining the process.

The senator stressed the importance of allowing voters to freely exercise their franchise and ensuring that the process produces a credible outcome.

He said political actors should focus on the issues affecting the people and work towards addressing the challenges facing the state.

Oyewunmi also spoke about the need for greater attention to education and the future of young people, stressing the importance of creating opportunities that would allow children to receive quality education and build better lives.

He said the election should ultimately be about improving the welfare of residents rather than deepening political divisions.

Oyewunmi called on stakeholders to engage constructively, respect one another and allow the electoral process to run its course.

He urged voters to remain peaceful throughout the exercise and expressed hope that the outcome would reflect the will of the people of Osun State.

The Osun governorship election is being contested by incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, ADC candidate Najeem Salaam and other candidates.

Voting is taking place across the state’s 30 local government areas, with INEC reporting that all 3,763 polling units became operational by 9am after minor delays in some locations.
