The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in the Osun State election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has called for calm as voting continues across the State.
Oyebamiji spoke to newsmen after casting his vote, amid concerns over the possibility of violence later in the day.
Responding to questions on reports of possible violence in the afternoon, the APC candidate declined to speculate, saying the relevant authorities should handle security concerns.

He also responded to questions about the arrest of a lawmaker in the build-up to the election over alleged possession of security-related equipment.
Asked about the matter and what his reaction was, Oyebamiji said the security authorities were responsible for determining the appropriate action.
“I think the security authorities are the ones that would do that,” he said.
The APC candidate’s comments came as voters continued to cast their ballots at polling units across Osun’s 30 local government areas.
The election is a closely contested race involving incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party, Oyebamiji of the APC, Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress and other candidates.
Security remains a major issue as voting progresses, with stakeholders urging voters and political actors to maintain peace and allow the electoral process to proceed without intimidation or violence.
