Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to direct security agencies to prevent any attempt to disrupt the collation of results from Saturday’s governorship election.
In a statement posted on his X formerly Twitter handle @AAdeleke_01 on Saturday night, Adeleke expressed concern over what he described as reports of attempts by “desperate and rejected politicians” to hijack or disrupt collation centres across the state.
He urged the President to issue a clear warning to the heads of security agencies deployed for the election and ensure that the integrity of the electoral process is protected.
“Reports of attempts to hijack or disrupt collation centres by desperate and rejected politicians across the state are deeply concerning and unacceptable,” Adeleke said.
He noted that the large number of security personnel deployed across Osun should be sufficient to protect voters, electoral officials and the collation process.

The governor also urged President Tinubu to reaffirm his commitment that the votes of Osun residents would count and that the outcome would reflect their genuine choice.
Adeleke specifically called on the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other security agencies to adhere strictly to the directive.
He also appealed for necessary support to be provided to the Independent National Electoral Commission to enable it conclude the process and deliver what he described as a credible and transparent outcome.
“The people of Osun State have spoken with one voice, and their voices must be heard. Their votes must be protected, and their mandate must be respected,” Adeleke said.
His appeal comes as INEC continues the uploading and collation of results from the governorship election, with thousands of polling unit results already appearing on the I-REV results viewing portal.
The focus has now shifted from voting to the collation and declaration of results, amid heightened political expectations over the outcome of the closely contested election.
