Osun 2026: Voters Lament Limited BVAS Machines as Hundreds Await Voting in Osogbo

Scores of voters were still waiting to cast their ballots as of 3:20pm on Saturday at Polling Unit 008, Ward 06, Akolu Compound, Oke Ola Street, Osogbo, Osun State.

The voters expressed concerns over what they described as the inadequate number of BVAS machines and electoral materials at the polling unit, which they said was contributing to delays in the voting process.

Speaking to TVC News Online, one of the voters, Arisekola Mauruf Sulaiman, said the polling unit usually records a large turnout but has continued to struggle with only one BVAS machine.

He said, “voters are always much here, INEC need to increase the number of materials they give us to making voting faster.”

Another voter, Olomide Muideen, also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to provide more BVAS machines and electoral officials to speed up the process.

He said, “as you can see a lot of people have not casted their votes over here, and it’s because we’re having thousands of voters over here, but we don’t gave enough machines. this issue always come up every four years. INEC should make provisions for more materials so that if we have more than one voting machine and officials, voting process would be faster.”

TVC News Online observed that as of about 3:20pm, more than 100 voters were still waiting to vote at the polling unit.

The delay has left voters waiting for extended periods as electoral officials continue to process voters with the available equipment.

The situation comes amid a generally large turnout of voters in several polling units across Osun State as residents participate in the governorship election.
