Osun 2026: APC Raises Alarm Over Alleged Plot to Disrupt Poll

Kehinde Ayantunji, a member of the Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council Media Committee, has called on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Tunji Disu, and the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Oluwatosin Ajayi, to investigate alleged activities capable of triggering unrest ahead of Saturday’s Osun……
Kehinde Ayantunji, a member of the Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council Media Committee, has called on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Tunji Disu, and the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Oluwatosin Ajayi, to investigate alleged activities capable of triggering unrest ahead of Saturday’s Osun State governorship election.
Ayantunji made the call on Friday, August 14, during a press briefing in Osogbo, where he alleged that political thugs had been mobilised to the Osun State Government House ahead of the election.
He claimed that the APC had received intelligence indicating that a large number of suspected political thugs had been moved into the Government House within hours of his briefing.
“As I’m talking to you now, we have intelligence that a large number of political thugs have been mobilised into the government house,” Ayantunji said.
He alleged that some of the individuals were not from Osun State and had been moving in and out of the Government House.
According to him, the APC had identified two individuals allegedly coordinating the suspected thugs, using the codenames “Olowe” and “Iberu”.

Ayantunji also alleged that several vehicles had been used to convey the suspected thugs to the Government House, adding that the party had photographic evidence to support its claims.
“We are not just raising this alarm; we have double-checked our intelligence, and we have pictorial evidence of what we are saying here this afternoon,” he said.
The APC campaign council member alleged that the suspected mobilisation was targeted at some areas within Osogbo and Egbedore Local Government Areas, which he claimed were areas where the party expected a strong performance.
He said the APC believed the alleged mobilisation was intended to cause disruption during the election.

“Our intelligence confirmed that these suspected political thugs have been adequately mobilised, and any moment from now, they might be moving around,” Ayantunji said.
He consequently appealed to security agencies to investigate the allegations and take appropriate action to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
Ayantunji also raised concerns over the presence of an armoured vehicle at the entrance of the Government House, alleging that the vehicle had previously been refurbished by the state government.
He questioned why the armoured vehicle was being deployed to protect the Government House instead of being made available to security agencies for election duties.
The APC campaign council member said his party was not seeking to cast aspersions on security agencies or the Independent National Electoral Commission, but wanted its concerns investigated.
“We are not here to cast aspersions on any institution, either INEC or security agents, but when we observe or notice that we are seriously challenged, we definitely will not keep quiet,” he said.
He further called on stakeholders, including the international community and security agencies, to pay attention to the allegations ahead of Saturday’s election.
“As far as this election is concerned, we are victims of this violence, but the governor has been using his vantage position as the governor to blackmail us because when he speaks, people will listen to him,” he said.
The allegations come less than 24 hours before Osun voters are expected to elect their next governor, with security agencies already intensifying preparations across the state.
A visit to the government house by TVC News Online shows some vehicles parked in front of the government house, but it could not ascertain what the vehicles are for.
