A factional National Chairman of the Accord Party, Prof Chris Imumolen, has declared his support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of Saturday’s Osun State governorship election.
Imumolen made his position known on Thursday while speaking at the APC mega rally held in Osogbo, the state capital.
The Accord factional chairman had previously expressed confidence that Governor Ademola Adeleke would lose his bid for re-election, saying he did not believe the governor had what it takes to secure victory at the polls.
However, at the APC rally, Imumolen formally announced his support for Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, and pledged to back the APC candidate in Saturday’s election.

His declaration comes amid an ongoing legal dispute between two factions of the Accord Party over the leadership of the party.
Imumolen’s faction is currently challenging the Adeleke-aligned faction at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
He had earlier expressed optimism that the court would rule in favour of his faction, saying, “We are expecting victory in the judgment very soon.”
