Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has urged his teammates to step up their performance after the Turkish champions were held to a 2-2 draw by Çorum in their opening league game of the season.

Speaking to beIN Sports after the match, the Nigeria international stressed the need for greater effort and intensity as Galatasaray prepare for a demanding campaign that includes UEFA Champions League football.

“It’s going to be a tough season. The team is well aware of that. We need to work very hard,” Osimhen said.

“We need to give our all on the pitch. The fans are always behind us. We need to gain momentum before the Champions League. Our fighting spirit must increase.”

The 26-year-old has continued to attract transfer interest, with Premier League side Arsenal and Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal reportedly monitoring his situation.

Despite the speculation surrounding his future, Osimhen remains focused on helping Galatasaray find their rhythm before the start of their European campaign.

Galatasaray will aim to record their first league win of the season when they visit Erzurumspor on Friday, August 21.
