Operation Hadin Kai Air Strikes Destroy Two ISWAP Gun Trucks In Borno

Air strikes by troops of Operation Hadin Kai have destroyed two Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) gun trucks and inflicted casualties on the terrorist group in Aduwa village, Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State.

The strikes were conducted on August 21, 2026, as part of intensified military operations aimed at disrupting ISWAP formations and restricting their movement across the Lake Chad axis.

According to intelligence sources, the targeted location was occupied by suspected ISWAP fighters, with all personnel observed at the site assessed to be members of the terrorist group.

The sources said two gun trucks were destroyed during the strikes, with one reportedly completely burnt.

Following the bombardment, surviving fighters were observed evacuating casualties from the area. Some terrorists were also seen towing a damaged vehicle while moving several wounded fighters around Gudumbali towards the Lake Chad area.

The movement was believed to be an attempt by the surviving fighters to recover their wounded colleagues and withdraw from the area.

The exact number of terrorists killed or wounded was not immediately established, while the identities of any senior ISWAP commanders who may have been killed are still being verified.

Further battle damage assessment and intelligence gathering are expected to provide more details on the casualties inflicted.

The latest operation is part of the sustained air and ground offensive by Operation Hadin Kai to disrupt ISWAP’s command structures, fighting formations, logistics and freedom of movement across the North-East.

The destruction of the gun trucks is expected to further weaken the group’s capacity to launch mobile attacks and move fighters and weapons across the Lake Chad region.

Security sources said the operation demonstrated the importance of intelligence-led air strikes in disrupting terrorist concentrations and forcing surviving fighters to abandon their positions.

Troops are expected to maintain surveillance and offensive operations across the theatre to prevent surviving ISWAP elements from regrouping and re-establishing positions in the affected areas.
