NFF Sets Up Committee To Probe Nigeria’s International Football Setbacks

The Nigeria Football Federation has constituted a fact-finding committee to examine the country’s recent setbacks in international football, particularly the Super Falcons’ failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The move comes after Nigeria’s disappointing outing at the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where the Super Falcons were knocked out in the quarter-finals before losing 2-1 to South Africa in the playoff for a spot in the Inter-Confederation Playoffs.

The defeat ended Nigeria’s unprecedented run of qualifying for every edition of the Women’s World Cup since the tournament began in 1991.

According to the NFF, the committee will review the circumstances surrounding the recent setbacks suffered by the national teams and propose measures to prevent similar disappointments in future competitions.

Ambassador Fanny Amun, MON, will head the committee, with former Nigeria internationals Ladan Bosso, Desire Oparanozie and Mutiu Adepoju serving alongside Dr Alex Mana as members.

Nasiru Jibril has been named secretary of the committee.

The federation said the committee’s findings would provide a basis for measures aimed at improving the performance of Nigeria’s national teams and ensuring better outcomes at future international competitions.
