According to him, NETCO is building indigenous capacity in three critical areas—human capital, material resources and access to finance—to enable Nigerian companies to execute complex oil and gas projects successfully.
He noted that major projects, such as Bonga North and Bonga South-West require local companies with the necessary technology, technical expertise, financial capacity and execution capability.
Tahir added that NETCO has over nearly four decades of operations, contributed significantly to the growth of Nigerian content by developing local engineering expertise and creating opportunities for indigenous participation across the oil and gas value chain.
The panel session, moderated by Joseph Nwakwue of Zera Advisory and Consulting, featured chief executives from Renaissance Africa Energy, Midwestern Oil and Gas Company Limited, Heirs Energies, Chevron Nigeria Limited, and TotalEnergies, who discussed strategies for aligning fiscal policy, foreign investment and local content to drive sustainable growth in Nigeria’s energy sector.
