The 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has urged Nigerians to embrace unity, fairness, tolerance and love for one another as Muslims across the country commemorate Maulud Nabi, the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
Obi made the call in a message shared via his X handle on Tuesday, August 25, to mark the Islamic celebration.
The former Anambra State governor said the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad remained an example of compassion, justice, humility, honesty and service to humanity.
“The life of the Holy Prophet remains an invaluable example of compassion, justice, humility, honesty, and service to humanity,” Obi said.

According to him, the Prophet’s teachings continue to offer guidance on promoting peace, tolerance and the pursuit of the common good.
Obi urged Muslims and other Nigerians to use the occasion to reflect on the values of unity and fairness, irrespective of ethnic, religious or regional differences.
“As we commemorate this sacred day, I pray that Allah (SWT) grants us the wisdom to follow the noble path of the Prophet; a path of unity, fairness, and love for one another, regardless of tribe, religion, or region,” he said.
The 2027 NDC presidential candidate also prayed for renewed hope, peace and progress in Nigeria, while calling for divine guidance for the country’s leaders.
“May this Maulud bring renewed hope, peace, and progress to our nation. May Allah bless Nigeria, protect our people, and guide our leaders to serve with sincerity and justice,” Obi said.
