Lagos Hosts Inspection Team Ahead of 2026 CAF Awards

Lagos State has received an inspection team from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as preparations intensify for the 2026 CAF Awards scheduled to be hosted in the state.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu disclosed the development in a post shared via his official X handle on Monday, stating that officials of the Lagos State Sports Commission welcomed the CAF delegation for a facility inspection ahead of the continental event.

According to the governor, the inspection team was taken on a guided tour of the proposed venue, while state officials received feedback from the CAF representatives as part of efforts to ensure the event meets the required standards.

Sanwo-Olu said hosting the prestigious awards ceremony requires meticulous planning, noting that the state government is paying close attention to every aspect of the preparations.

“Earlier today, officials from the Lagos State Sports Commission received the Confederation of African Football team in Lagos for their inspection visit ahead of the 2026 CAF Awards,” he said.

“We guided them through the venue and gathered their feedback. Hosting an event of this scale means every single detail counts and our team is working hard behind the scenes to make sure we get it right.”

The governor expressed confidence in Lagos’ readiness to stage the event, describing it as another opportunity to showcase the state’s capacity to host major international sporting events.

“Lagos is ready and we look forward to putting on a brilliant show for African football,” Sanwo-Olu added.
