KACRAN proposes three-month peace plan to restore security in North-West, North-Central

Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has condemned the recent wave of bandit attacks in Zamfara, Sokoto and Katsina states, describing the killings, abductions and burning of civilians as inhuman, barbaric and a threat to Nigeria’s food security.
In a statement issued on Monday by its National President, Hon. Khalil Mohammed Bello, KACRAN said it received the reports “with deep sorrow and outrage” following accounts of night raids, mass killings, the kidnapping of women and children, and victims being burnt alive in their homes.
“How can anyone in their right mind kill, kidnap and mercilessly burn their fellow human beings alive? What crime have these innocent farmers, women, children and the elderly committed to deserve such cruelty?” the statement queried.
KACRAN stressed that no religion, tradition or rule of engagement permits the targeting of non-combatants or reprisal attacks against innocent citizens.
The association appealed directly to bandits to “embrace dialogue and immediately cease all acts of violence against citizens in farms, villages and towns,” and to release all hostages unconditionally.
It also cautioned volunteer groups against extrajudicial killings of pastoralists, warning that “not every Fulani is a bandit, just as not every citizen is a criminal. Profiling and reprisals only fuel the cycle of violence.”
KACRAN called on Northern leaders – including politicians, traditional rulers, religious leaders and community elders – to take decisive steps to end the violence, insisting that the crisis can be resolved through “dialogue, justice and community engagement, not more bloodshed.”
The group further urged the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to adopt its National Peace Roadmap, which focuses on dialogue, protection of farmlands, cattle routes and grazing reserves, engagement with repentant bandits, and a comprehensive disarmament process.
“With political will and sincerity of purpose, we are confident it can significantly restore peace to the North West and North Central within three to four months, by God’s grace,” Hon. Bello stated.
KACRAN pledged to continue working with the government and security agencies to restore peace, trust and prosperity across Nigeria.
