JUST In: Rodri Set To Join Barcelona From Man City

Barcelona have reached an agreement with Manchester City to sign Spanish midfielder Rodri, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano giving the deal his trademark “Here We Go” confirmation.

Romano reported on X that the agreement is in place for the former Ballon d’Or winner to move to Barcelona after Manchester City gave the green light to the Catalan club’s latest bid.

“EXCLUSIVE: RODRI TO BARCELONA, HERE WE GO! Deal agreed for Spanish midfielder to join Barça from Man City, all done for the former Ballon d’Or. Green light from Man City to last Barcelona bid. More follows,” Romano posted.

In another post, the deal is worth a potential €76.5 million, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, with Barcelona set to pay €60 million in guaranteed fees.

“Barcelona strike agreement with Manchester City to sign Rodri. €76.5m package. €60m fixed & above €11m of bonuses viewed as highly achievable so [#MCFC] can expect at least €71.5m despite Spain captain entering final 12mnths of contract,” Ornstein posted.

The structure of the agreement means Manchester City are expected to receive at least €71.5 million if the performance-related bonuses are triggered, despite Rodri entering the final 12 months of his contract.

Rodri, 30, joined Manchester City from Atlético Madrid in 2019 and developed into one of the most influential defensive midfielders in world football.

During his time at the Etihad, he has won multiple Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, FA Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. He was also named the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner after helping City to major honours and playing a key role in Spain’s European Championship triumph.
