FIFA has handed Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes a 10-match international ban, while teammate Nahuel Molina has been suspended for seven matches over their involvement in the clashes that followed Argentina’s 2026 World Cup final defeat to Spain.

According to a post shared on X on Friday, FIFA imposed the sanctions after reviewing the incidents involving the Argentina players during the post-match confrontation.

Paredes was fined $90,000 in addition to his 10-match suspension, while Molina was also fined $90,000 and handed a seven-match ban.

Thiago Almada and Pablo Martín Páez Gavira were each handed one-match suspensions and fined $30,000.

The sanctions followed the heated scenes after Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 19, with Paredes involved in an altercation that escalated into a confrontation between players from both teams.

FIFA also sanctioned Argentina as a team, ordering the country to play its next two home matches behind closed doors, although one of those matches has been suspended.
