Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged residents to put the divisions of the recently concluded governorship election behind them and unite for the development of the state.
Adeleke made the call in a statement posted on his X account on Friday, days after he was re-elected for a second term in office.
The governor thanked the people of Osun for renewing his mandate, describing the election outcome as a victory for residents irrespective of their political affiliations.
He expressed appreciation to traditional rulers, religious and community leaders, civil servants, pensioners, youths, women, artisans, traders, farmers and other residents who supported his administration and participated in the election.

“My dear people of Osun State, I am deeply humbled and grateful for the confidence you have reposed in me by re-electing me as your Governor,” Adeleke said.
He added: “To our traditional rulers, religious and community leaders, civil servants, pensioners, youths, women, artisans, traders, farmers, and every citizen who came out to vote and support our administration; thank you for believing in us and choosing continuity.”
Adeleke said he accepted the renewed mandate with humility and a strong sense of responsibility, stressing that his re-election should be seen as a victory for the entire state.
“It is time to heal, unite and continue building a greater Osun,” he said.
The governor also remembered victims of electoral violence recorded in the build-up to the August 15 election and commiserated with their families.
“As we celebrate, we also remember the victims of electoral violence before the election. My heartfelt condolences go to their families and loved ones,” he said.
He prayed for the repose of those who lost their lives and called on residents to move beyond the painful incidents that characterised the election period.
“May Almighty God grant the departed eternal rest and comfort those they left behind. Together, let us heal, unite and continue building a greater Osun,” Adeleke added.
