The Ministry of Interior has disowned a fake press release circulating on social media and messaging platforms, claiming that the ongoing recruitment exercise by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) had been postponed until after the 2027 general election.

The ministry, in a statement issued on Thursday, said the document titled “CDCFIB Recruitment Update”, dated August 11, 2026, was falsely attributed to the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

According to the ministry, the purported statement, which cited funding constraints as the reason for the alleged postponement, did not originate from the ministry, the minister’s office or the CDCFIB.

“The Ministry wishes to state unequivocally that this press release is fake, unauthorised, and fraudulent,” the statement said.

“The Minister did not sign or issue this statement,” it added.
The ministry further clarified that no decision had been taken to suspend or defer the recruitment exercise until after the 2027 general election.

“No decision has been made to defer the recruitment exercise until after the 2027 general election,” it said.

It stressed that the recruitment process remains ongoing, urging applicants and members of the public not to rely on unverified information circulating online.

“The exercise is ongoing,” the ministry stated.

The ministry advised applicants to obtain recruitment updates only from its verified communication channels and those of the CDCFIB.

“Members of the public and applicants are strongly advised to disregard this document in its entirety and to rely solely on information published through the Ministry’s and CDCFIB’s verified platforms,” it said.

It specifically directed applicants to the official recruitment portal, cdcfib.gov.ng, for authentic information about the exercise.

The statement was signed electronically by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr Magdalene Ajani.
