Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has engaged in a playful exchange with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, following the outcome of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

Davido was seen jokingly claiming victory over Wike’s camp during a visit by his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, to the FCT minister on Thursday.

The light-hearted exchange was captured in a video shared on Instagram by @OfficialPrinceNwauzor on Friday.

In the video, Davido, dressed in brown traditional attire, repeatedly told the seated Wike, “I won. I beat you guys.”

Wike, who appeared amused by the singer’s claim, responded, “No, no.”

Davido insisted, “I won! I beat you.”

“You beat us?” Wike asked.

“I beat you,” the singer replied.

The exchange triggered laughter among those present, with some background voices heard saying, “I beg o.”

Davido later prostrated before Wike and hugged him as those in the room applauded and laughed.

The banter has been linked to the outcome of the August 15 Osun governorship election, which saw Adeleke, Davido’s uncle, defeat the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, to secure another term in office.

The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Adeleke winner with 511,067 votes, while Oyebamiji polled 444,815 votes.

Adeleke won in 19 of Osun’s 30 local government areas, with Oyebamiji securing victory in the remaining 11.

The Osun governor had earlier visited President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, before proceeding to meet Wike.
