Governor Yusuf Mourns Kano-Based Political Singer, Kosan Waka

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned Kano-based political singer, Muhammadu Buhari, popularly known as Kosan Waka, who died on Sunday at the age of 47.

The governor described the late singer as a patriotic son of Katsina whose music transcended political divides and served as a vehicle for promoting unity, culture and public enlightenment.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Kano, Sunusi Bature, Governor Yusuf extended his condolences to the deceased’s family, particularly his mother, as well as his friends, associates, admirers and the people of Kano State.

According to the statement, Kosan Waka died on Sunday and would be buried in his hometown of Tsanni Village in Batagarawa Local Government Area of Katsina State by 5 p.m.

The governor said the late entertainer was one of Kano’s most celebrated political singers, whose talent, creativity and captivating performances earned him widespread admiration across the country.

He noted that the deceased made remarkable contributions to political communication and the Hausa entertainment industry, saying his legacy would remain indelible.

Governor Yusuf prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the late singer, widen his grave, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus and give his family the strength to bear the irreparable loss.

The governor also joined members of the entertainment industry and millions of admirers across Nigeria in mourning Kosan Waka’s passing, describing his death as a painful loss to Kano, Katsina States and the nation at large.

Kosan Waka was widely known for his politically themed songs and performances, which made him a prominent figure in northern Nigeria’s entertainment.
