Since Big Brother Naija premiered in 2006, only a handful of housemates have voluntarily brought their journeys to an end before being evicted or reaching the finale. From health concerns to personal circumstances, their exits have added some of the most unexpected moments in the show’s history.

With Season 11 housemate Neche becoming the latest contestant to voluntarily leave the reality show.

Here is a look at the BBNaija housemates who have exited the show voluntarily over the years.

Kayvee — Season 6, Shine Ya Eye (2021)

Kayvee, whose real name is Ololade Gbolahan, became the first clearly documented BBNaija housemate to voluntarily leave the show. He withdrew from the competition in August 2021 after his health deteriorated during his time in the house. Reports at the time described his departure as a voluntary exit.

Kayvee later explained that he had underestimated the effect isolation would have on his mental health and his difficulty adjusting to the environment.

Sabrina — Season 10, 10/10 (2025)

Sabrina Idukpaye voluntarily left the BBNaija house in August 2025 for medical reasons. She had complained of leg pain and was unable to participate in the Head of House game before announcing her departure to the other housemates.

She subsequently revealed that she was not allowed to return to the show after undergoing medical examinations, despite saying she had wanted to continue her BBNaija journey.

Neche — Season 11, Show Ya Sef (2026)

Neche became the latest housemate to voluntarily leave BBNaija when she announced her decision on August 16, 2026.

The Head of House gathered the remaining contestants after the live eviction show and informed them that she was leaving voluntarily. She subsequently removed her microphone and name tag before heading to the Diary Room to complete her exit. No specific reason was given for her decision.
