EPL: Man United’s new signing, Andrey Santos tells Carrick his preferred position

Manchester United summer signing, Andrey Santos, has told the club’s manager, Michael Carrick, his preferred position as the new season approaches.
He also expressed his desire to replicate the playing style of his fellow countryman, Casemiro, at Old Trafford.
The 22-year-old joined the Red Devils this summer in a deal reportedly worth £48 million from rivals, Chelsea.
Carrick’s team has lost experienced defensive midfielder, Casemiro due to the expiration of his contract this summer. In response, they have signed two midfield reinforcements: Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.
After his transfer to Old Trafford, Santos emphasized his intention to follow in Casemiro’s footsteps, who departed from Manchester United this summer.
He stated, as reported by centredevils on X, “Casemiro for me, it’s like a legend, you know. So now he’s gone out. Now I’m here so I feel that I can do like Casemiro did in the last season and I’m here to do it.
“My qualities, I like and prefer playing more deep like a number six. So I try help my teammates without the ball and with the ball I love breaking the lines.”
Casemiro is widely acknowledged as one of the premier defensive midfielders of the modern era. While he enjoyed his most successful years at Real Madrid, he also had a commendable four-year tenure with Manchester United.
The midfield powerhouse made 160 appearances for the 20-time English champions, scoring 26 goals and providing 14 assists. Now 34 years old, he has joined MLS giants Inter Miami this summer, reuniting with Lionel Messi.
Andrey Santos is a promising talent at just 22 years of age. He did not receive ample opportunities to showcase his abilities at Chelsea, making only 47 appearances for the club.
