The Director-General of the Department of State Services, Oluwatosin Ajayi, has urged media and creative industry workers to promote values that strengthen national cohesion, tolerance, peace and unity.

Ajayi made the call in Abuja when the leadership of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU) paid him a courtesy visit.

He described national cohesion and unity as critical to Nigeria’s stability and sustainable development.

The DSS boss said, “The media and creative sector has a critical role to play in promoting national cohesion, tolerance, peace and unity, which are essential to the continued stability and development of our country.”

During the visit, Ajayi was honoured with the Golden Era Pillar of Critical and Strategic Intelligence for National Development Award by RATTAWU.

Expressing appreciation for the recognition, the DSS Director-General pledged to sustain constructive engagement with the union.

“I am deeply grateful for this recognition.

We remain open to constructive engagement that will enable us build meaningful networks and partnerships between the DSS and RATTAWU,” he said.

Earlier, the RATTAWU President, Prince Kalu, commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing Ajayi as DSS Director-General.

Kalu described Ajayi as “a man of valour, integrity, competence and proven capacity”, saying his contributions to national security and development deserved recognition.
